She transitioned to private practice in May 2018. Her experiences have developed a strong appreciation for value-based care (treatment that is efficient and cost-effective), communication (with both the patient and the patient’s other healthcare providers), and self-efficacy (empowering the patient to learn strategies to aid in the treatment of his/her condition).

Dr. McGovern resides in North Kingstown with her husband and two children. She loves to spend time outdoors with her family, exploring Rhode Island’s diverse natural beauty.

What Is a Primary Spine Practitioner?

A Primary Spine Practitioner is a healthcare provider who has extensively studied spine related disorders and helps triage patients through our healthcare system to identify the most appropriate and efficient course of treatment.

Spine related disorders, especially lower back pain cause pain, disability and suffering for millions of people. As the cost of management for these disorders has risen over the years, so has the number and types of available treatments. This often leaves patients feeling overwhelmed and confused as to which treatments are most effective. A Primary Spine Practitioner functions as a guide for patients with spinal pain and helps provide answers to many common questions, such as:
What is my diagnosis?
What are my treatment options?
How long before I can expect to feel better?
Do I need an MRI?
Should I see a surgeon?

Dr. McGovern will do her best to provide answers to these questions to help you live your most productive life!
